What should I do if I receive an unsolicited login request?

Answer

Many accounts use one-time codes and multi-factor authentication to help keep your accounts secure. If you ever receive a message with a one-time code, or a message asking for confirmation to log into your account when you are not actively trying to log into your account, it could very well be a hacking attempt.

What to do if you receive an unsolicited request:

  • Do not click on any links in the message.
  • If the message contains a confirmation button, do not click it.
  • If the message contains a code, do not enter the code anywhere, and do not share the code with anyone else.
  • Change your password as soon as possible.
