An ESD strap is a safety device to drain electricity. It is worn on the wrist by the user during this process. It prevents static sparks from damaging sensitivity electronic parts like computer chips or circuit boards during repair or assembly. If you do not have an ESD strap you could use a ground mat to dissipate ESD.
