How are decimals used in nursing?
Answer
Decimals can be used for dosages for medication, IV fusion rates, and patient lab values or weights. There are a couple tips you can use to help you in the nursing field for decimals. First, always use a leading zero for example if you use .5 the patient might not know the actual dosage is 0.5mg. Second, never use a trailing zero which in this case is to not add zeros after a decimal point if they are not needed.
