Hematopoiesis
is the process of producing new blood cells in the body.
- Occurs in red bone marrow
- Found in:
- Flat bones (sternum, ribs, pelvis)
- Ends of long bones (femur, humerus)
- Red blood cells (RBCs) → carry oxygen
- White blood cells (WBCs) → fight infection
- Platelets → help with clotting
