How do I configure a switch?
Answer
How you would configure a switch is to have it turned on first. Once it is turned on you would connect the switch via console cable or web interface. Once you are in the switch you would set the configurations like you would do a router. You would first set a hostname and assign an IP address. Next you would set security passwords and configure VLANS. If you would want secure remote management generate RSA keys. That would be the SSH setup using "crypto generate RSA) command and also configuring virtual terminal lines. Once you have configured the switch you can verify this by using the "show IP interface brief" command to check the interface status to verify VLAN configuration.
