What are the layers of the OSI model?
Answer
There are seven layers of the OSI model. First we have our physical layer which is responsible for physical connections like cables and switches. Second, we have the data link layer which manages MAC addresses, and error detection and correction. Third we have the network layer which helps handle the data routing, IP addresses across a number of different networks. Fourth we have the transport layer which manages end to end connection and error correction(TCP/UDP). Next we have out session layer which opens and closes communication sessions between applications. Then we have our presentation layer which handles data formatting, encryption and compression. Lastly there is the application layer which is the top layer that interacts directly with the software applications.
