What is the difference between a router and a switch?
Answer
There are several differences between a router and a switch. A router can connect to multiple networks. Where as a switch it can connect to multiple devices at once. Routers can connect to various networks like WAN, and LAN. On the other hand a switch can connect to multiple devices like a printer and computers. Routers operate at the 3rd level (Network Layer) using IP addresses. However, with switches they operate on the second layer (Data Link Layer) that instead of using IP addresses they use MAC addresses(Physical addresses).
