What do you know about the antibiotic drug Class Lincosamide?

Answer

Clindamycin is a commonly prescribed Lincosamide for patients with skin, soft-tissue, and dental infections.  Plus, it can be used in PEN allergic patients.  Indications are for Gram (+) cocci and anaerobic bacteria (such as Bacteroides fragilis).  May disrupt flora of intestine leading to C.  difficile.  Targets 50S inhibiting protein synthesis.  Other medications targeting 50 S are oxazolidinones and macrolides.  Targets of the 30 S protein are aminoglycosides (such as tobramycin) and tetracycline (such as doxycycline).
