What is the difference between IPv4 and IPv6 address?

Answer

IPv4 address consists of a 32 bit address. On the other hand, IPv6 address is a 128 bit address. The difference between the two ranges from, configuration, routing, NAT(Network Address Translation), security and communication. In order to configure an IPv4 address DHCP(Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) or static IP(manual). Therefore, you would  input in the address by going to your settings, network & internet from there you select your active network connection and select "Obtain an IP address" or DHCP(Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol). To configure your IPv6 address you would go to your OS(Operating System) network adapter properties where you can either obtain an IPv6 address and DNS(Domain Name System) server address to automatically or enter in the address manually.

Another way you can configure both IPv4 and IPv6 address. You can do this by to control panel, network & sharing center, change adapter settings(left side). From there you right click your connections and then select the properties window. Once your in the properties window you can select either IPv6 or IPv4(TCP/IPv6 or TCP/IPv4). Lastly you can give an automatic address or a static address which involves the appropriate IPv6 address, subnet mask and default gateway and entering an alternate DNS server addresses.
