What is the cell structure of bacteria?

Answer

Peptidoglycan, polysaccharide, consisting of sugars and amino acids that forms a mesh-like peptidoglycan layer outside the plasma membrane. Gram-positive bacteria have a thick layer of peptidoglycan within their cell wall. Gram negative bacteria have a unique cell envelope structure consisting of a thin peptidoglycan layer surrounded by an outer membrane.
