In order to add or subtract fractions, the denominator (the number on the bottom) must be the same.
Begin by finding a greatest common factor between the two denominators. Multiply the top and bottom by the same number in order to get the denominators to be the same.
Once the denominators are the same, the numerators (the number on top) can be added.
